Three golden wish of Alexander the Great

Today I am going to talk about a story which read a few days back and will relate it to Spirituality and Astrology.

When Alexander the Great was dying, on his death bed, he summoned his ministers and told them about the last three wishes:

1. The best doctors in the country should carry his coffin to the graveyard.

2. On the way to his death procession, they should scatter the golds and other valuables.

3. His hands should let loose and be visible to everyone.

His ministers became perplexed on hearing these unusual demands. Then Alexander explained to them that he realized the true meaning of life on his deathbed, and he would like to tell everyone, so that future generations don't make the same mistakes. He said,

• When best doctors would carry my coffin, people will realize that no matter what, everyone dies, and even the best of the doctors couldn't save.

• One should realize that what all we accumulated would remain on the earth. It is as good as anything on the ground.

• We come to this earth empty-handed, and we will leave this earth empty-handed.

Now let's try to understand this story with the help of Spirituality and astrology. We all know all these facts for sure, but somehow in this mundane life, we conveniently try to forget these facts. We all are running towards the mad rush of accumulating wealth, possessions, fame, and what not by any means. Many people don't even worry about the means.

Many things that might not be legally wrong but might be ethically wrong or morally wrong. Let's take a simple example of any workplace. Knowingly or unknowingly, we all try to be selfish; even in the name of teamwork, we try to get personal credits; we try to put others down so that we can gain fame, position, money. None of this is legally wrong, but we all know it is morally wrong. But what we forget is that nothing remains the same. Time change and all these bad Karmas will come to us to haunt us in some form.

Let's try to understand is from the Astrology perspective. In Astrology, the 11th house represents our gains, social circles, friends, which follows after the 10th house of Karma. In ancient times, our sages have called it a malefic house. Because a soul, which is on the journey of a higher plane, and is almost reaching its destination in the 12th house, this comes as a hurdle. To get mundane gains, we do all kinds of Karma's which might drag us behind in the evolution unless the soul's consciousness is at a very high level.

I am not saying that one should not go after gains, but rather create a balance so that ultimately soul's journey can be moved forward.
