The ever-growing need for Lifestyle changes

We hear a lot about lifestyle changes, yoga, meditation, and others way nowadays, and rightly so. The more and more we have embraced the urban and materialistic lifestyle, the farther we have become from actual self; the divine self.

Today let me try to put my perspective astrologically and spiritually why it all makes sense. As we all know that our body is composed of five elements, and in the universe, zodiac signs represent four key elements: fire, earth, water, and air. Planets also signify or represent one of these elements. It will probably mean that we need to keep a balance between our internal elements with external factors ( planets and zodiac signs, which are impacting our lives). In our current lifestyles, most of these balances are missing.

Imagine that our ancestors, just a few hundred years back, used to do fire rituals, either by Yagya, Hawan, etc. in their daily life chores. It used to significantly boost the fire elements both within them as well as around them. Similarly, people used to donate, keep fast, and be more grounded to put earth elements in balance.

Our ancestors also used to recite mantras, remember Gods more often, and that helped them to balance the air elements. And finally, they also used to take sacred baths in the Ganges and used to donate and help the needy. All these used to help them balance the water element.

Also, our ancestors used to keep fast once every fortnight on Ekadashi, which used to detox their bodies. They used to donate something on three important days of a month: Sankranti, Poornima, and Amavasya. It helped them remain grounded, humbled, and determined.

During the Gurukul days, when students used to get the education in Guru's Ashram, other than the bookish knowledge, they also used to learn self-independence, good deeds, how to live a good life. There, no one can differentiate between a poor's child and a king's. We all know the famous friendship of Lord Krishna and Sudama.

To summarize my thoughts here: we all need to become self-aware and mindful of things within and around us. It helps us balance our internal energy with cosmic energies around us, and then we function at our best both in physical and emotional planes. Yoga, meditation, exercise, and others all teach us to achieve the same. Let's choose our way to realization and reach the ultimate goal of self-realization and self-balance with the universe.

Keep moving on the spiritual journey. Stay happy and stay blessed!
