Have you ever felt that you wished for something even small and in some form that gets fulfilled, and then you think I should have asked for something else? Our sages have described the human mind as Kalp-Vriksha or Wishing Tree. You must have heard dialogues like what we want is what we become, or if we desire something, the whole universe helps us get that, etc.
In Puranas, Kalp Vriksh is described as a tree of heaven that fulfills all the desires of a person. It is supposed to be one of the things that emerged out of Samudra Manthan and immensely helped Gods regain their position in heaven.
In Yoga, Kalp Vriksh has a special significance. It refers to a well-organized mind which helps in manifesting things. When someone organizes body and mind in one direction so that all the emotions and energy is channelized, the ability to create and manifest are greatly improved. We need to be very careful about what we wish for in our life. Humans have invented electricity as well as a nuclear bomb. We have immense powers to manifest things, but with great power comes greater responsibilities.
What it all means is that we should train our body and mind to have positive thoughts, so that good things manifest. If we keep ourselves surrounded by negative people, negative thoughts, we can observe that slowly negative things start manifesting in life. That's why it is said, that a person is known by what company one's keep. For example, any disease first manifests through our mind before actually affecting our body. First, our mind accepts that we are sick, and then the body accordingly shows symptoms. In the social media age, this is even more dangerous because there are all kinds of information available to everyone at fingertips.
To summarize, we should train our body and mind to have positive thoughts through Yoga, Meditations, and other Spiritual practices.
